network problem

hi guys am new to this forum? what i want to no i was instaling a new driver on my pc....and when i had finished instaling this driver i could not log on to the internet....? i went in to the device manager and noticed that there was a yellow question mark in the hardware section saying ?wan miniport (ip).....??how do i go about fixing the problem?

 

A thing to try is to delete the device in the manager then reboot windows will find it and reinstall it. That fixes many a dropped item.

A bit of info on your system would be great. Hit the windows+r keys and then type in dxdiag and post some info on the make and model of your PC. I would suspect you need another driver.

 

Were you updating an existing driver? If so you could try the driver rollback feature.

When you updated this driver did you do it right from the device manager or did you install a program that updated the drivers? If you installed a program you will need to uninstall it. Another thing you could try is a system restore going back to before you put the new driver on.

what i was trying to do was instal a audio driver from the hp site then once i instaled it i could not get online again?? cheers for the feed back by the way?

 

Check out system information under hardware resources, it may be a conflict in memory addresses. Also SI look at error reporting under software environment for a coinciding date an time you may find some clue there.

From there I would be DL:

Driver - Modem
Driver - Network

The Network drivers I would grab all 3 just to make sure, save onto a USB and then install.

Well hopefully it sorts the problem. In my case my Realtek Drivers are for sound but I also have Realtek for my Gigabit Ethernet Nic and they became un-installed during my Driver update as well.

 

i will try it when i get home am stuck on a offshore instalation just now
but am sure it will work eagle.
