    I'm on a pentium3, 550 mhz, 384 ram

I'm hooked up to a Linksys router via Blitzz Wireless USB Network Card. For some reason, it just slowed down out of nowhere, and the problem isn't very clear. It slowed down from about 200kb/s to ~20kb/s. Here's a pic of a graph I took while downloading:

It seems it's getting interrupted somehow.

My upload rate is about the same as it was before the problems (~15kb/s), but it also experiences interruptions.

What could the problem be? Another computer on the same router works just fine.

    Hi,

Had a similar problem although my local area connection said limited or no connectivity. I went to start/connect to/show all connections, right clicked local area connection and clicked properties. I then uninstalled internet protocol(TCP/IP) and reinstalled it. Worked for me.

With windows xp you can't uninstall tcp/ip due to it being a main part of the os.

Heres some things that may help you.
    Directions
Two new commands for netsh have been created in Windows XP Service Pack 2. These commands deal with Layered Service Providers or LSPs.

An LSP is software that is inserted into the Windows TCP/IP handler. As you might imagine, any error in the LSP can prevent your network connections from working properly.

    netsh winsock reset catalog

This command resets the Winsock catalog to the default configuration. While doing this, it removes any LSPs. This is excellent if some spyware or other piece of software has placed the LSP and is now causing your network connection not to work correctly. Obviously, any needed LSP software will need to be reinstalled after this command so use it with caution.

    netsh winsock show catalog

This new command will list all the installed Winsock LSPs on your computer.

How and When to use the Windows XP Netsh commands
The netshell commands can be very useful in providing a remedy to many
situations on Windows XP. The commands listed below can provide a solution for
the customer in cases such as
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
You shouldn't receive any response back except for "[complete]" maybe. If you
get a screen full of information as a response, then the customer has typed it
wrong, or doesn't have Windows XP. This will not damage anything, it's just to
show you valid commands. This should only be done under the following
    circumstances:
    * You verify that they cannot pass any network traffic by pinging dns servers.
    * You have recreated the dialer so that the TCP/IP files for that specific
connection are replaced and you still can't get any network traffic.
    * "ipconfig /flushdns" doesn't help for DNS.
    * Any third party fire walls or internet accelerators have been uninstalled,
and there is still no access to the internet.
    * "ipconfig /all" reports wrong information, even though ip, dns servers, etc.
haven't been specified under the dialer.
    * You can't ping 127.0.0.1
    * You can't ping 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.254.254 depending on equipment
A second command that you can use for the same symptoms, that refreshes the ARP
    tables in Windows XP is:
    netsh interface ip delete arpcache
The same rules apply here. Check the dialer first, and if you get a screen full
of information, they probably typed it incorrectly. This simply removes any
cached servers and attempts to refresh them though the DNS servers.
    Windows XP Service Pack 2
Windows XP SP2 also comes with an additional netsh command that can provide
    useful in certain situations.
    netsh winsock reset
This command will reset the default classes for the Windows winsock files and
is only available with Service Pack 2. This should only be used in certain
situations where all else fails as this will remove class items that pertain to
firewalls and other various protection programs the customer may have
    installed.

Here are some Additional Netsh commands that may provide useful and timesaving
    when troubleshooting.
    netsh diag ping adapter
This command will not only return information informing you if the ENET/USB
adapter is responding to the PC normally but will also ping every IP and etc.
associated with the ENET/USB adapter. If the command fails at the beginning,
most likely the ENET/USB adapter is not responding properly and may need to be
reinstalled or referred to the Manufacturer depending on the situation.
    netsh diag connect mail
This will connect to the default incoming and outgoing mail server then drop
the connection. Easier for customers than trying to telnet to the mail server
    ports
    netsh diag ping dns
Will ping the default DNS servers progressively. (Saves having to re-type ping
    multiple times)
    netsh diag connect iphost
Will make a connection to the host on the specified port, then disconnect.
Example: To test http connectivity, type netsh diag connect iphost yahoo.com 80
    will return
    IPHost (yahoo.com)
    IPHost = yahoo.com
    Port = 80
Server appears to be running on port(s) [80]
    netsh int ip show config
Shows the current IP address and additional config info
    netsh diag gui
Launches the window based Network Diagnostic Program
    netsh diag show mail
Shows the default mail servers currently configured on the PC.
    netsh diag show dns
Shows default DNS servers provided either by hardsetting to Internet Protocol
    or through DHCP
