Network set-up help please.

Hi guys and gals. I recently had a hard drive crash and had to re-install XP.

Since the install, the other computers in my house can not access the internet.

I have cable internet using powerline adapters, with mine being the main source.

Nothing to the hardware was changed, but I feel perhaps I missed a step when setting up my computer's internet connections.

When I go to the network connection wizard and check the box for:
This computer connects directly through the internet and click next, it tells me that other computers can not connect to the internet through this one and in addition to it's internet connection, this computer must have a connection to your network.

Any suggestions?

 

Actually, support for exactly this would usually be a part of your subscription. Your internet provider is obliged by law to make sure that you get what you're paying for: internet access. You are in all likelihood entitled to immediate assistance over the phone?

 

Thanks, I did call the cable company and they got me up and running.

Like the typical male that I am, 2 things that I resist doing are calling the cable company and asking for directions when I'm lost.

I recently picked up a GPS to help with the latter, but I have so little patience when it comes to dealing with any type of customer service. The wait drives me bonkers. :banghead
