can you elaborate more on what you want to be able to do.. ? from the looks of it, you have two pc's hooked up to a hub and technically, you have a network. So let us know what your goals are.

Just network the 2 PC's for file and print sharing? All you would need was file and print sharing service from MS. Assign them both to a workgroup. Give them both proper protocol. If no Internet is involved you can use NetBui.

If you want two of them to be able to access the internet you can get really fancy here. Depending what your connection is and if you want any other hardware to be involved (ie. router)

    Hope it helps.

yeah they are both run through a hub to connect to the internet, what i want to do is to be able to access the other cpu's hard drive from my cpu and have it so that the 2 cpu's share 1 printer, how do i do this, i gave them both the same work group name, maybe i didn't set it up properly

You'll need to right click on the drive you want to share in My Computer. click on Sharing and security. You'll then need to click on share this folder. You'll need to go to the other computer and map that folder that you've just shared. Tools > Map network drive in My Computer and follow the wizard. To share the printer, go into the Printers and Faxes folder, right click on the printer and click sharing. Then name the printer. On the other machine, you'll need to Add a network printer, and type in \\[name of computer attached to printer here]\[networked printer name here] and finish the wizard. to access the printer or files requires both computers to be on.

If you are running firewall, may be blocking sharing, If so turn off firewall, or relax settings.
Try this: control pannel/ Network connections/ then on the left click on: set up a home or small office network, then just folow instructions.

Good point. I didn't try to put a firewall on my network here until after the connections were working. Now I've got Zone Alarm monitoring it and the 'net connection.

If Asus' tip doesn't work out, you can try to salvage what you've created so far.

To make sure that you have all things you need to network those two computers, right click on My Network Places, click Properties, right click on the connection, click on properties, and make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler, and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are all checked on both computers. If that still doesn't get things transfering, click on TCP/IP in that window and click properties. Make sure that both tabs have everything set for automatic, unless your router information says differently.
