    Here's the mystery,

We have a network with 3 computors, on a speed test at Speakeasy.net we should max on a download speed of 10megs......not even close.

We have had a problem now for about a month....The download speed will be at 10megs or higher for maybe an hour or a few days then bottom out. Yesterday on ANY OF THE 3 COMPUTORS we couldn't get a download speed above 2 megs, however the upload speed is where it should be.

Last week the upload was in the toilet while the download speeds were decent and at times over 10megs.

During the past month we have had our IP techs out here to replace all the cable lines on the outside of our home, they've checked the pole and the amplifiers.

We have replaced all of the lines inside with new cat5 connecting the computors to the network, router and motem.

We even bought the best D-Link Router.

We are out of ideas and so are the IP techs.

I just ran the speed test agian before posting this and the results were better than last night/yeserday.....well anything is better than 2megs.
It revved up to almost 7megs and then dropped off to 5 megs and the upload was 5 megs where it has been pegging at almost 8 megs.

For a short while the speeds are great or atleast good and then they just dump.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this would be so greatly appreciated this has become a mystery for us and the cable /dsl techs.:cry

Have you tried checking the speeds directly off of the modem, bypassing the router? Also try several different speed site servers not just the same one each time...

What speed package are you paying for with your ISP, a 10 meg service? You're certainly NOT going to get a constant 10meg but you should be getting 8/9+ constantly.

I'm amazed your ISP techs say they can't do anything.

But try bypassing that rtr with one pc and see what speeds you get and is your service DSL or cable? you mention both.
