So you have it shared on the PC to which it is connected?
Do an ipconfig on that PC (start>run>cmd>ipconfig)
Go to the Vista and go to Start>run> \\put ip here
An explorer window will pop up if everything is set up right & right click and connect to the printer.

No i do not have it shared as a printer. eg i mean i dont have my computer sharing the printer setting on the other computer. I tryed what you said and one first step i got two address? plus down the bottom it say media discounted and then tryed both address in step two and it came up with this error message window cant find address make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.
Thanks for you help so far

The printer has to shared from the PC it is attached to.
Unless it has an ethernet (jet direct card) or print server attached.

Find the ip of the jetdirect card, then..
Go to to the PC & start>settings>printers & faxes
Add a new printer > next
Select local and uncheck automatically detect & next
Select Create a new port, select TCP/IP & type the IP of the printer's direct card.
Next select HP and the model and it should install.

The Jet Direct card has a configuration that is usually available in the laser printers menu. You'll need to set up the card via the printers menu with the proper TCP/IP settings before you can do anything.

HP also has a utility that you can put on the PC that will "discover" jet direct cards on the network but I have found that the manual setup is just as easy.
