I am looking for any help that can be provided. I have a friend setting up a T-1 LAN and he really can't remember what kind of equipment he should get for setting up the LAN. He will be able to set it all up (configuration wise), but I am looking into equipment that would suite there needs.

They have T-1 connection a server and 3-4 workstations

If anyone knows what should they use for Router and switch for keeping in mind minimal future expansion.

unfortunately, this is the best i can do: http://www.cisco.com/

i think it's best for you to call them up and ask them what you need. but odds are, a router will be good enough if it's a small network (ie all computers will fit in one router). If he's trying to wire up something like a school, he'll definitely need some gigabit equipment and some cisco extreme boxes to distribute network jacks.

Youll need a cat 5 coming from the smart jack to a router, either adtran or cisco. You will need to get the IP and DNS info from the ISP and program that into the router. You will need knowledge of CISCO/Adtran interfaces and programming.
