    Hi y'all,

I am trying to network my PC with my roommate's Mac. I know it can be done because she connects to her mom's PC with no problem. My laptop is showing that I'm connected to the network, but we aren't able to access one shared another's files. Also, once that's been fixed... I know it is possible to be connected to both the Internet and the network, but I don't know how.

    Any advice?

What os is running on your pc?

What are you sharing, internet, files, printers?

Well, we share the internet via wireless router, but we want to share files from our hard drives also. She's running Mac Leopard, and I'm running Windows XP.

Ok, you can search for how to set up a network with the opposite OS in the opposite OS. On Mac, look up windows networking. & vice versa.

I tried a search for "mac network" and nothing came up. I think the issue is just with my own laptop, since the Mac has problems connecting to other PCs.

    I'll try that. Thanks.

With OSX, it pretty much makes it easy. Just follow the instructions at support.apple.com. As for the Answer, OSX will use SAMBA to communicate with the Windows machine, and also allow sharing. As for the Windows machine, you will have to enable File Sharing, and go from there.

Apple actually has better instructions, then Microsoft does.

How do I enable file sharing?

I found how to network the Mac to the PC on the Apple site, but not vice versa. I already know that the Mac can connect to a PC, it just seems to be my PC that's having the issue.
