    Hello,

Here's the problem I am hoping you can help me with:

My computer is the host of our small network (2 computers both pent IV chips and both running XP Pro) and my wife's is the client. I just recently did a "clean install" to her computer with 2 partitions (1 for apps the other for data).

On the initial boot (hard boot) the drive I mapped for her to see some of my files is not working. Once I click on that drive (I'm in My Computer during this), it "hangs" and I have to "end the program". When I've done this, I lose the entire task bar even though I'm still connected to the internet and the lan. After approximately a minute the task bar re-appears and then the networked drive works. So, this leads me to believe it has to be something with the initial "boot" that's causing this. I did have "Driverhaven's Tuneup" installed so I removed it and it is still happening.

One thing to know is I also created a "Permanent swap" file for her computer and mine. We have 512 megs of RAM and I made the files 3X larger. Could that be the problem?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I would check you network configuration. If you have it set to "reconnect" the mapped drive at startup and it is not mapping it will serach for the drive. This may be why it takes so long to boot. Make sure of the general things such:

    1. IP Address on same subnet
    2. Mask set correctly
    3. Workgroup the same

    Its a though.

    Good Luck!
