Networking Win98 And Win10/64?

Hi! I am waiting to get a new (to me) Windows 98 computer from eBay for home. I already have one at my mother's house. I currently have a Win10/64 laptop and want to network it to the Win98 computers temporarily. All the computers should have USB and ethernet ports. I have enough money for it. How do I do it?

BTW, I am networking the Win98 computer at my mother's house to a DOS laptop without a hard drive to act as a hard drive. The solution I have requires switching the Win98 computer to DOS mode and booting to a special setup. Is there a way to network the two computers without switching the Win98 computer to DOS mode? I have a null-modem serial cable.

You need to run a special Windows patch to make this happen.

I found the solution on this website's help desk . . .

"...If you need to connect your Windows 98 / XP computer on a network to a PC running Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10, simply Click Here download the Windows 98 / XP patch file.

This file will enable Windows 98 / XP to see your other PC's running Windows Vista / 7 / 8 on your LAN network.

{ 98 >> XP >> Vista >> 7 >> 8 >> 8.1 >> 10} ... "

I downloaded it. Thank you. Now, how do I share folders between the computers? BTW, I found an URL on my desktop for instructions for networking via a USB cable last night.

 

In your first post you said your computers had Ethernet connections . . .

Simply run the patch on Windows 98 and then open your Windows Explorer on Windows 98, right-click on your drive folders and share them . . .

They should be then visible on your Windows 10 system . . .
