I just got 2gigs of RAM recently for my ASUS A7N8X-X with AMD barton 2500xp (hate asus' customer support btw, horrible) but anyways...When viewing multiple tabs in FF1.0.7, my RAM drops considerably.
A lot of the sites I view are graphic heavy, whether it's gifs, jpegs, flash, etc...
But then at 1000mb of free RAM, everything starts to load more slowly.
I would expect that at 500mb, not 1000.
I add the new integer value for memory leakage into FF at integer value 60000.
Maybe it's NOD32 that downloads every image first before i view it?
Any ideas what's going on here guys?
Maybe should have posted this in software?

Just to clarify, when you say:
Do you mean that when "Commit Charge Total" (Task Manager) goes above 1.000.000 K ?

    When you say:
What parameter in Firefox about:config have you changed ?

What is the "VM Size" (Task Manager) and "Mem Usage" (Task Manager) of Firefox.exe ?

What version of Windows are you using ?

No my freeRAMxpPRO tells me where my RAM is sitting at, didn't mean anything else.

As for the memory leak integer value i added.
1)Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
2)Right click any line to bring up a sub-menu
    3)Choose "new">"integer"
4)paste this into the dialogue that appears: browser.cache.memory.capacity
    5)Next click Okay
6)Specify the amount in kb (about 60000 should do) in the next dialogue that appears
    7)Restart Firefox and happy surfing.

    I'm running on XP-pro with sp2.
    Thanks.

Interesting to note that the original poster is talking about 1.0.7, and not 1.5.0.1. Most people have switched from 1.5.0.1 to 1.0.7 due to "memory leaks".

On a side note, one needs to add "VM size" to taskmanager via the "View", "Select Columns" menu within taskmanager. I also like adding "Peak memory usage".

Before I upgraded to 1.5 Gigs of ram, I had 512, never had a leak issue.

What websites are causing these leaks?

More info on the original poster's "tweak".

I tried 1.5, too many problems initially went back to 1.0.7 should have known better, new versions of anything always have kinks in it.
    I like my 1.0.7, interesting enough ;)

I think I figured out my problem.
Since I visit a lot of photography sites and blogs (and what not) it's just the images, animated gifs and what not, sapping the memory.
the VM size with taskmanager via the view select columsn, is not something I'm seeing here on 1.0.7, unless it's in 1.5 exclusively, to which, I'll probalby wait for another update of 1.5. ;)

The Task Manager is an application, which is part of Windows. It can be started different ways:

    - Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and the Task Manager will popup.

    - Press Start -> Run... and execute:
    - Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and press the button Task Manager

    Using the Task Manager

yeah, check the task manager, some process(es) could be hogging all ur RAM. It could also be that one of your sticks is bad, it shouldnt be hitching up during web browsing for any reason.
