Never thought watching grass grow would be so much fun ... ;-)

Since I have some webcams around, I set one up to watch the grass grow on my front lawn. Yea, not exactly the most exciting webcam, but hey, at least it is family friendly and safe-for-work.

So CollegeHumor.Com is bombing it right now along with the SomethingAwful gang - some of the comments in the grass blog are pretty darn funny - cheap entertainment on a Thursday afternoon ... ;-)

 

I'll take that as a compliment! ;-)

Was actually was a bit more popular yesterday when it was front page on several sites including DIGG for a while - don't know if it is "off-base" enough for Jim/Tim to put on the front-page of MG which would send a buncha geeks my way! ;-)

Funny thing is I've had this up for a while, but has been crazy busy the last few days. I'm re-broadasting the webcam images on a 100 Mbps server, so it's pretty scalable. I just added a flag out there for the upcoming July 4th Holiday - enjoy!

Yea, it's a bit odd having a snowman in the summer ... fortunately, he's one cool dude that is hanging with the heat! ;-)

I mostly put him out there so people could see stuff at night - otherwise, the front lawn is pretty darn dark/boring - at least he helps in one of those things ...

I tossed the fan out there to give some motion since it is 3-second JPEG refreshes rather than streaming video.

Thanx for the pointer to the submission URL - that looks for more "official" stuff ... but I'll toss it that way and see what Jim/Tim think of it.

Looks like they classified watching grass grow as Way Off Base - what a surprise! ;-)

I do have some satellite pictures of my house but no space stuff in the front lawn (but plenty of junk in my basement) ... but if you can get NASA to send something my way, that would be great.

BTW, T-17 minutes on the Space Shuttle and weather is a (EDIT) NOGO ... and there's a boat downrange!!! :-(
