New 1440x900 monitor is distorted (vertically squeezed)

I installed the new monitor, the native resolution is 1440x900 but I don't get that option when adjusting the resolution, so my images are squuezed.

I've already tried updating the drivers, but it seems I am looking for a particular one, not necessarily the latest. How can I figure out what it is I need to properly set up the native resolution?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium and the monitor is being read by the system as 'Generic Non-PnP Monitor.'

 

See if the monitor manufacturer has a driver available on their website. Give us the make and model of monitor and we can have a look as well.

 

It's the Dell SE198wfp LCD flat panel monitor, and I actually have the disc, but all I can see in there in the exe file is a link to their website where I can get the manual, I don't recognize the driver file or can't figure out hot to access it... :-o

 

You can get the driver here for Vista but the file is listed as use for Dell computer systems. You also may want to update your video driver.

I've used Dell monitor drivers on other systems it should work fine. Run the exe and then see if the actual monitor model number is now listed in Vista and you get more resolution options. http://support.dell.com/support/dow...eid=R150804&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=200794

If it doesn't install automatically it will still put a R150804 folder on your C:\ drive that will include the monitor.inf which can be used to install the driver manually.
