    Hi guys

I have bought a new laptop after struggling to fix my old compaq mini 110. It is an Acer,, windows 8.1 4gb memory and 2.16ghz. However even the first time I started it up it was freezing. It is now less than two weeks old and the problem continues. Resource monitor is showing maximum frequency at 100% (the blue line) although CPU usuage is very low, Disk usage is oscillating wildly between high and low. Seems anytime I try to use an application such as the camera the freezing happens and it was only once I started using the resource manager rather than task manager that I could see where the problem was. I have have downloaded latest windows updates windows firewall/windows defender is on. Could my computer already have been infected?

    Many thanks

It has just frozen again and resource monitor is showing that systemsettings.exe and WWAHost.exe are suspended...

If it's less than two weeks old, you need to take it back to the supplier.
