I just got my new motherboard and built my system. I have a revised edition of the Asus P8P67 pro board and Intel i5 second edition processor.Everything works great, except for one annoying thing. When i hit the power button, the system fies up for about 5 seconds, lights are on, fans going etc. Then it shuts off. Completely off. Then restarts up all on its own. Whats that all about? Anyone know of a fix for this??

    Greetings, luv2roq.

Sweet looking motherboard - lots of bells and whistles.

No idea what the startup hitch is all about. You might try going into BIOS, make sure everything's set for Fail-Safe defaults (nothing Turbo, etc.), see if your symptoms change.

Don't know what OS you're running, so I plugged in Win 7 at the ASUS site and I noticed that there are very recent (2011/03/18) BIOS updates available. Don't know if that has any bearing, but it's certainly worth investigating.

I had the same problem with a build i did but i can not remember which motherboard i used (customer choice)

First i would take out the Bios battery from the motherboard and leave it out for 10 minutes or so then try to boot.

then as Caliban said i updated the bios and it cured the problem.
