It is a new build in a new case, first time build for my Dad. Gone wrong, he doesn't live local and has travelled to me to save it. Poor hopeful man.
Read the motherboard manual several times and looked at demo's online :)
AMD quad core phenom x4 9500
    geforce 8100vm m5 motherboard
    memory 2 gb ddr2 800mhz
The above came in a bundle so should be compatible
    Hd wd500
    lg dvd rewriter

did the spacers in the case, seated heat sink, put in motherboard, no problems, everything in place. Dad does muck around and build hi fi stuff so is pretty good with diagrams and common sense.
Turn it on and it has no power. No lights zilch, tried new power cable, different plug etc, decide maybe his old psu 300w is no good/not powerful enough. So just brought a decent one 720 w atrix nividia sli, and still no power.... is it possible it could be the motherboard? what do we do next?
    Thank you for any advice.

    LOL

If the psu's are good then the next thing I would go for would be MB if it was other parts connected to the MB you should get a Beep code or a flicker of leds or spin of the fans or something some thing.
You might be looking at an RMA of the MB

who is the manufacture of the MB?
