New combo drive acts strangely.

Over the weekend I swapped the Pioneer DVR-111DBK combo drive for a Samsung SH-222A. At the same time I had to install a new hard disk drive, which meant reinstalling all my programs. I mention that because it may be the cause of my problem - I should mention that I use Zoom Player Pro for playing CDs.
The problem is that the new combo drive stops between tracks when I play a CD. I can hear it winding down to a stop then starting up again a few seconds later.
I'm sure the old drive didn't do this, and it's annoying. Is there anything I can do to change it?

 

Me again... I discovered my problem was neglecting to install the Nero software. This wasn't an issue with the Pioneer.

 

As I said, the Pioneer drive was just install and use. If I'd known the Samsung was set up to work best ONLY with the software they supply I might have considered another brand. Pretty much everyone would have their preferred media player already - being tied to one in this way stinks just a little bit if you ask me.
I would have stuck with Pioneer except I hear that the quality of recent models is pretty poor. Next one I get I'll read the product description carefully to see what software is involved.
