Actually, my friend just got a new Dell and it came loaded with free trials for both AOL and Earthllink. He's using AOL for a week now, but I'm telling him Earthlink is better. Can he use them both interchangeably for the 6 months trial period? We haven't initialized Earthlink's download yet.

    Thanks.

Well, let's hope the system lasts long enough to make all the payments on it ;)

AOL stories are well-documented; and from what I have read, Earthlink is a little too invasive for my liking, and their image-compression (better know as high-speed dial-up), is a joke.

Sure, he can use any amount of the trial programs.
Just be sure to warn him to learn how to get rid of all the junk that
both AOL and Earthlink installs on the computer when he goes to another
provider, as they can cause big time headaches down the road.
Having used both, I would advise staying as far away as possible from both.

Strange1, I'm with you on liking Dell. Mine's a little workhorse that I've had for 1-1/2 years. I've messed up, and had an invasion or two, but it's very forgiving--back running perfectly.

Also, I use and like Earthlink. Got rid of my free AOL the first day, and they phoned me at home and the rep was downright rude, saying I didn't even give it a try, etc. I'd tried AOL on my old computer and it just took over and wanted everything done their way! Getting rid of all the components was a minor headache.

One more question. Is there a spell checker here that can be run after replying or when posting a new thread?

    Thanks for your advice.:)
