The sound card i want to replace it with would be from a Dell computer do they have better sound cards? I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix my dilema...I love listening to music and its frustrating to hear it the way it is now.

It's an onboard sound card. The Dell computer also has an onboard sound card. This means you cannot just swap them out. You'll have to buy a PCI sound card if you want better sound. Unfortunately, these can be quite expensive if you want really good sound.

If your pocket is pretty empty go look for the lower end of the Creative 'SoundBlaster' market ...or... check out E-Bay for a second hand one. Even the lower end can give you quite a nice sound for music.
