New computer hardware

My Sony vaio recently decided to die..it had a p4 and stuff. So i got A Shuttle microatx to match my case, and got an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ and just used my harddrive and cd drives. everything works fine. But my music skips sometimes when i type or right click or do simple stuff. this never happened before. and i'm not running a lot of programs. Before though on my sony vaio orginially. i used a video card, but my motherboard, p4, and video card fried, so i'm just using the built in video on the motherboard on my new one, which takes up 32megs of my ram. leaving my computer with only 480mb. i don't know if that matters. I have 512 DDR. Does anyone know why my music is skipping? It really shouldn't, thank you for all your help. by the way i have Windows XP Professinal

 

The memory won't make a difference. That isn't the problem. I'd suggest try reinstalling the audio drivers. Or trying different versions.

that program has more functions that i think i would ever use lol.

 

Is this the program that you use to play your music or is this just your sound options.

 

Best idea I can come up with is this old XP Explorer bug. You might try turning off font smoothing, too.

Aside: In the future, you might want to a) post screenshots in .gif or .png format instead of .jpg. You'll get a smaller size; b) reduce the color depth of your images; or c) reduce the size of your images. No offense, but 750K is too big. I was able to get the same image you posted down to 44K by simply reducing the depth to 8-bit color and converting it to a .png file. Results here.

 

Just my sound controls from nvidia...i use windows media player or itunes to use my music...and they never used to skip my songs with my old p4

 

By the way. i know how to compress an image. i just didn't feel the need to..but just for faster loading speeds i made it 0 percent quality and reuploaded it
