My new computer is running Windows 7.It has a 60 day trial version of Norton which I do not want to install.

Should I delete it before I install another Anti-V? I have used AvG in the past and intend to do so again.

I noticed Comodo does not accommodate W-7 now. Is the windows firewall acceptable until comodo comes around, or is another firewall a good choice? Zone alarm had too many popups for me.

I want to get a external hard drive gto back up everything, also a router. I want to do right by this great machine but am I a sitting duck? Should I begin installing all my protection immediately?Such as: Spyblaster, Spybot S&D, and several others you recomnmend,.

    Thanks,
    Mishkyn

If you are not going to use Norton, you should definitely uninstall it using the Norton Removal Tool. Just in case, I would do it before installing AVG if that's what you're going to use. Uninstalling Norton and installing AVG won't take that long anyway, so should not be a big deal.

I'm running Win7 and have been using the Window's Firewall. I believe it's sufficient. It is much better than it used to be in XP. They improved it with Vista. You might get some other opinions on that, but I think it's fine.

If you know what protection you are going to use, I would highly recommend installing it immediately. As long as you are on the internet, you should make sure your machine is protected.

Don't forget Microsoft is now offering a full suit for "Free" Microsoft Security Essentials, I just loaded it about a week ago after checking it out up here. I feel it is written for MS and should do a better job then some, there are a many positive posts on a lot of sites. I just pulled Norton of my sons machine and installed MSE.

    Laura and Phil,
Thanks for your great advice. I will certainly check out MSE. By the way, uninstalling Norton took forever. I am so glad I got rid of it.

You will be vary happy with how fast you computer runs with MSE, it does not gobble up memory like most.
