new computer problem...

ok, first of all, it takes forever too boot up. and i have to have xp cd in to finish booting up. here is what it says...

1. Verifying DMI Pool Data..........Update Success
2. Boot from CD
3. Boot from CD
4. Boot from CD
5. Boot from CD
6. Disk boot failure, Insert system disk to press Enter.

then i put in xp cd and it boots up, does anybody know how to fix this? and yes, my HDD comes before everything in boot priority. I will give links to my mobo....

Ok, it wasn't anything to do with bios. one of the ide channels is not functioning and it happened to be the one with the hard drive on it. now i switched it to the other ide and it works perfect EXCEPT the cd drives dont work now, but at least i can still use the computer, and of course, let it FOLD!!!

 

In fact it may be your BIOS. Not sure if this applies to your situation, but here is what I had with my wife's comp. It has 1 SATA HD, 2 eide HD, 2 optical drives. Depending on how the eide controller is set (AMI BIOS) you can have 1 SATA + 2 optical + 0 EIDE, or 1 SATA +2 EIDE+0 optical; or if you get it right, 1 SATA, 2 EIDE, and 2 optical drives. I spent a half hour the other day getting this set up in the proper config. At one point, I set to default, which made it worse, since it no longer saw the SATA drive which was the boot drive. Don't know if this relates to your problem, but it sounds very similar.
