new computer. what do i need to download?

    i just bought a new desktop computer. actually its a used refurbished computer from a computer store, but it comes as new the same way a brand new computer would from the store. (im still using my old desktop computer).
    the used computer is- Debranded HP A1000 Sempron 3400+ 512 MB, 80 GB, CDRW/DVD Combo, Windows XP.
    i want to know what programs are best to download in order to keep my computer safe.
    maybe theres allready a thread and/or site someone could point towards that could be helpfull.
    so far ive downloaded Zone Alarm firewall, and AntiVir anti virus.
    what else is good?

    SpywareBlaster is good for preventing malware getting on your computer.
    You should also have a malware detector/scanner. Corrine, a MSMVP for security recommends MalwareBytes. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
    Note: I haven't tried it yet on any of my computers
