My daughter (38) needs a new computer, she just filled up 30G after 6 years.
She use it for email, surfing, word processing and limited photos, no games, no spreadsheets. I could use some suggestions as to system requirements and brands to help us in the search for the "right" computer...a little more than she needs, but not overkill?confused

I really do need some help with this computer. What processor speed do we need with Vista? 1 or 2GHz. Dual Processors? How much RAM?

For basic every day stuff I think Emachines are a good value. I know some people don't like them but I have had a few of them and I have never had any problems. Whatever brand you get though make sure it has at least 1GB of ram for Windows Vista.

They're not bad for the money. But remember, you get what you pay for. They're low priced for a reason. I had one for over 4 years. But I have many PCs.

You'll get a lot of different opinions here. If you're looking for a deal and purchaser comments go to:
    http://newegg.com

Also this site lets users post great deals, but you have to be quick to get in on them.

I have had a lot of computers over the years, I presently have 7 and all are different brands. Two Dells, Two Hp, Two IBM, and one Compaq. I have owned in the past 4 Dells, I am not promoting any brand but from my past experience Dell has been the best. It has out preformed all the other brands and I got my money out of them. Some are real expensive but the Dell Outlet, http://www.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh has some really great deals. Good Luck with your search.

Looks fine to me, my computer is the same specs, but a 3.0 GHz Pentium D 925 CPU instead of the 935, and it runs plenty fast for me. That looks like a pretty good deal to me.
