    I'm finally upgrading my cpu......i am currently looking at the FX-57 and also the X2 4800+..This will strictly be a gaming machine. i was wondering what the differences between the two might be(besides the # of cores). i see weird and varying specs all over the net from 1 Ghz FSB to 2,000 Mhz FSB...Will game programers in the near future utilize the new threads or should i stick with all that Clock speed ............As always i appreciate any help and advice you wise people have to offer...... Regards Caravan

    I've done some research and some answers i will share with you all....1. If you are a gamer, buy a single core proc. 2. If you want to do alot of multitasking and mutliple applications, buy a dual core proc.

    Having said that be sure to research your software purchases to ensure they will benefit from the multiple threads availalble

    Agree with 'dat; the FX-57 oc'd with the right GPU muscle (GF7800 or X1800), for the drooling gamez experience;

    an X2 for MT and video-encoding, tho the last i read at Toms the 840EE still holds the video-encoding crown by a little.
