New Dell System Sounds Like Crap

Has en1 had a poor sounding "new" Dell system w/ amped speakers?

 

The sound through your speakers has more to do with the speakers
themselves than the computer. Even onboard sound is of high enough
quality that it will sound fantastic through great speakers. But crappy through crappy speakers.
I've got a el-cheapo 20 dollar soundcard but when if I run my computer through my Dynaudio monitors, it sounds like a million bucks.

 

The problem is that I had these speakers (Altec/Lansing) on a previous system and the sounded great !! Now they sound distorted.I had no sound card on the other system either. I have tried to configure sound settings and nothing helps.

it is just poor quanlity sound, it seems distorted, muffled, etc. LIKE CRAP.......excuse my French

 

thats a good question, I never saw that option. I am at work now and we are talking about my home PC. I will look into that. Where would I look for that option?
