A couple weeks ago, I tried to get some help with a problem with my Nvidia graphics driver on this website, as well as from some friends that I have who are computer knowledgeable. Needless to say, I have not had any success in fixing the situation and now I am wondering if I need to install new drivers for my graphics and if so, what do I need to know to replace them?

The original problem I had was that I tried to update the graphics driver. Now, most games won't even play on my computer and if they do load, the screen has little squares all over it. The current driver I have is an Nvidia GeForce 4 MX Integrated GPU.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi

If your PC is one from the likes of DELL, HP, Sony, etc what is the Make and model varient as this will assist us if we need drivers?
If a laptop or onboard GPU then not all nvidia drivers work fine, you will need specific ones from the maker of the laptop which is why this info is crucial.

    Windows Version used?

If your PC is a home or custom build what is the motherboard make and version?

To find this info you can use the likes of Everest to find this info, at times a summary log of your PC can help, to do this

    Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)

Then attach your log to your next post as per these instructions HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

Once the drivers are located its best to fully uninstall the old ones via Add/Remove and then reboot to safe mode and use this application (install it first in normal mode) and choose all Nvidia items relating to graphics card then reboot into normal mode and install drivers.

Also what games a you trying to play as a GF4 MX is not the most powerful integrated GPU around.

Just noticed your older thread again, check device manager for any yellow ! marks? if so by what.

After uninstalling the current driver as I mentioned above install this one as Gateway dont seem to list one.

Also if having graphical issues check that the insides of the PC (which now searching the model number is a Desktop) that its free from dust and all fans working as heat can cause graphical anomalies.

    Thank you for the help.

I have attached the summary log below. I also checked device manager, as you requested, and no yellow check marks. The games that I am trying to play are casual gamers, like Hospital Hustle. Also, games that I have been able to play previous to my updating the drivers are no longer working.

All your drivers are available at this site. Install the chipset drivers first; I think they're labeled "System" at the link I posted. Restart when the install has finished, then install the video drivers. Again, restart the PC when the install has finished.

    Good luck!
