New DVD drive?

    Ok, so here be the problem.

    My HP 630c DVD burner refused to recognize any media whatsoever. That and it opens on its own... or when I close it, it will open a little bit then close...

    Whats the deal?
    Do I need a new one?
    Or is it something else?
    The drivers appear to be up to date...
    Any input is appreciated.

    I would check the connections and make sure everything is secure, and then search for a possible firmware update on the HP website. even if there is no newer firmware, you may be able to re-flash the current firmware and correct any corruption.

    in some cases this voids warranties though-- so if its newer, you might want to call tech support and wait for them to instruct you to do so.
