New dvd player, picture seems dark.

I just picked up a new dvd player yesterday and the picture seems not much better than a VHS tape.

Here's a little more on it. The new dvd player is an LG and it is hooked up using the same exact cables as the Sony that I just put into another room.

I have Monster Cable component cables and also have a Monster Cable S-video cable.

I've tried both ways and the picture quality seems really dark.

I'm watching Cars as I type this and it seems a little better than the last movie, but still nowhere near what it looks like on my Sony

Nothing else has changed, but the picture quality.

Is there some type of adjustment I can make, or did I get a bum dvd player?
