i'll start this from the beginning
i got a startup pc off eBay, worked perfectly 1.5 years later,
psu went out got one off ebay, worked perfectly
i decide the cpu fan is too loud upgraded to an asus silent square
    comp stopped working after that
i heard a bit of a spark when i tried to run it the first time so i figured it was the mobo
so i bought an abit ab9 pro
bought new ram for the mobo
bought a new pci-e card for the mobo
bought a new 500gb 3gb/s WD hd for the mobo then it
    still. wouldnt. work.
i figured cpu only thing i havent changed
so i got a dual core 3ghz pentium d installed that today still doesnt work.
computer is okay but the input to a monitor = dead blank screen
, tried 2 different monitors vga and dvi inputs
im gettin nothing here seriously, pissing me off.
i get 8.2. on the mobo messager so it claims that it
stops at "enable atx power supply"
i have not tried another power supply but
this psu is 600w and atx

    good luck eh.
    thanks for reading anyway =S

    So test your power supply.

According to your history it hasn't worked since "a bit of a spark"

Perhaps one of the control lines is down?
The grey lead should be reading +5 volts.

The thermal compound you used between the cpu and cooler. how much did you put on? if it ran over onto the cpu wafer you may have problems. Is the heatsink on correctly, flat on the cpu?

Power supply testers are available online from Egghead or TigerDirect for under $20 but they aren't 100% accurate. I have one, and while it is very handy, there have been plenty of PSU's that the tester says are OK, but they still don't power up a PC. But if the tester says it's bad, it IS definitely bad.... the best test is to hook it up to known good hardware, or find a known good PSU. Anyway, here's some PSU testers if interested:

These handy units provide the correct load and control signals to the psu but the LEDs will turn on over a wide range of voltage so it is always best to actually measure the voltages (on load) with a voltmeter.

The signals also have to appear within a certain time or the pc rejects the supply and does not activate. Checking this requires more sophisticated apparatus.

erm.. with all that said, i suppose my best bet is buying a new psu then?
if the tester is 20$ then i figure a new psu isnt far away.. can you suggest any brands for me?
