I received an email today highlighting a new (to me) Search Engine. I have given it a quick try and I think it will be an asset to those researching family history.

    Link is www.myheritage.com/research

    See thumbnail for email details.

    Hello Bazza, :wave

After your initial post I did give it a try. My personal opinion is that I didn't find it helpful and Genealogy sites that want you to sign up before giving any results are annoying (again personal opinion).

So I haven't pursued it any further. Their site shows their customer support is in Israel.

I mostly stick to Rootsweb/Ancestry and a couple of others - some free others not. Depends if your looking for English, American or Australian persons. Feel free to PM if your interested to know the ones I use.

Family Tree Maker was a part of Brodabund and after they sold the tax software for churches they really did not have a niche market. Perhaps the entire company was sold again to the Israeli firm.

    Hello BOOMM,

I have used Family Tree Maker software for many years. Yes it's part of the firm you mentioned. I don't think that this software Bazza has posted about is part of that group. Further research on their site revealed two items of interest.

MyHeritage.com was founded by a team of people with a passion for genealogy and a strong grasp of Internet technology. Our vision has been to make it easier for people around the world to use the power of the Internet to discover their heritage and strengthen their bonds with family and friends.

We are based in the beautiful village of Bnei Atarot, near Tel Aviv, Israel, founded by German Templars in 1902 under the name of Wilhelma. end Quote

2/ The software their promoting is listed as Family Tree Builder v2.0

The other software - Family Tree Maker must be up to version 15 or 16 by now. ps. I think they have stopped calling it version # and is now called version - year.

Thanks B-O-O-M-M and paramonks for your comments. I havent delved that deeply into it at present. Just another thing on the TO DO list still outstanding. :-D
