    Hello people!

Just installed a new graphics card. Stupid idea.

QDI Advance 10T motherboard with an Intel III processor. 300w power supply. System running XP Pro. Old graphics card was an ATI Rage 128 pro - worked fine but slow on 3D games. New card is an ASUS V9520 Magic, which is powered by the Nvidia GeForce FX5200.

Tried it with the supplied ASUS drivers to start with, that was disastrous, much crashing, so I replaced it with the driver from Nvidia's website. Now my system will only boot up if I leave it for around 10 mins before entering password and beginning - otherwise it brings up the desktop but freezes whilst trying to run through all the application startups. Will sometimes play mpegs, other times freezes then crashes, error report comes back saying problem caused by nvidia driver. Trying to launch a 3D game results in system freeze.

    Questions -

Have I simply bought a card that the system can't handle?

Should I try installing the Asus 'fine-tuned enhanced driver' which came with the card? I avoided installing it because it's not passed Windows Logo testing.

Is the only thing I can do take a deep breath and try and figure out how to flash my motherboard with a BIOS update? Or am I missing something nice and simple?

    Any help muchly appreciated. Thankyou!

Be sure to get "Driver Cleaner" (from this site), and clean out the ATI drivers.
