New Graphics card

Im looking to upgrade from my radeon 9600 to something a little better. Obviously im on AGP cards only. Have done a little research and the leading AGP cards look like

geforce 7600gt 256mb
geforce 7800(rare and price puts this out of question)
radeon x1650 pro 512mb
radeon x1600 256mb

any ideas on wot would be best for 3d gaming? also i can get a 512mb x1650 for about the same pric as a 256mb geforce, any idea on wot to go for???!!!

Also any1 know about the x1600/1650, compatibility with AGP slots, Im not sure which models come pci-e with a agp adapter? TY

 

The best agp card is a 7800GS, not rare but expensive. There are a few Gainward Bliss 7800GT cards out there but were made only for a limited time and cost a fortune. The 6800GS and 7600GT are great cards, as well as the x1650. Id say go for the 7600GT but if you cant, a 6800GS or x1650PRO would be a good second choice.

 

Ok, thx for tha comment. Anyone know the compatability of the radeon card? I think an X1650 pro can fit in my AGP with a funny pci-e bracket, not sure tho? Should i get a 512mb x1600 tho and not a 256mb BFG?

 

With these level of cards 512mb or VRAM wont really help you much, if any, over only 256mb of RAM. The 7600GT is a better card but if you cant pop for the extra cash then the x1650PRO will be OK. As far as the PCI-E to AGP thing goes, they have x1650PROs for AGP....unless im misunderstanding what you're saying...
