new hard drive problems

my husband just installed a new hard drive, and it will not recognize the ethernet card. he cannot get on the internet. have tried to use dell resource cd for drivers, but windows xp will not accept them. there is a big yellow question mark on the ethernet components in device manager. he had checked connections inside and outside of pc; can't get it working.

Try to unplug the ethernet card reboot the computer goto device manager right click on the yellow ? uninstall driver. shut down the computer, plug in the ethernet card, reboot the computer see if windows detects card

 

thanks, but when i got up my husband was on the phone with dell supt. will post resolution of problem (if any!)
