PC World are replacing the hard drive on my 11 month old Compaq, as the grinding and crunching noises coming from it were drowning out anything else!
I'm not sure how this kind of thing works, but what will be the state of affairs when the guy puts the new hard drive in...will it be totally blank, will it have the operating system already on it like when I first bought the pc, will it be the same specifications as my old one?
If it is totally blank, how do I get everything back on, drivers etc? I have made a set of recovery discs, and, as far as I know they are supplying some new discs as well, but I still don't understand how I will get it up and running?
(Note to anyone remotely knowledgeable - please excuse my ignorance!)

These are questions that should be aimed at PC World!

By rights they should at least return your system to its previous operational capacity, including all your data if it were recoverable?

    Good luck

No trouble at all, He just wanted you to know that THEY were responsible for returning your pc to a workable state. ed
