New Hardware and now BSOD on boot

Hey hey,

I understand that often times there's major issues when you upgrade a bunch of hardware all at once and try to continue using your same Win7 install. But, I went and did it anyway and I'm wondering if there's some way to get around the issue I'm having.

CPU, RAM, Mobo - All brand new. Mobo and CPU are both ATI which I was running before. New chipset as well as socket. So, I know it's a major leap I've made.

When I try to boot into my original Win7 install, I get an immediate BSOD. I have the related dump that I pulled from a Win7 install that I did on another HDD that I installed after the issue came up.

It seems to refer to video card drivers and not the changed hardware.

What kind of log should I post for further examination and what sort of advice might you all have for me?

With that kind of upgrade you're very likely to see MSFT licensing issues too

First you need to see if you can boot to Safe Mode. If so, disable Daemon Tools and any other CD/DVD emulation software with Defogger or uninstall (if it's a non-MSI installation).

Then enter Device Manager and disable/uninstall any old hardware that shows up - pay special attention to the hidden drivers - View > Show hidden devices - then scan carefully through the Non-Plug and Play section that now shows up.

There's a lot of old drivers in that dump that might need updating (assuming they refer to your current hardware): Razer, Creative Labs, ATI chipset, WDC SCSI ...

A clean install to vanilla W7 drivers is best, update from the bottom up, chipset > DX9C > Realtek NIC > ... > Razer mouse/keyboard.

Always try to get the latest drivers from the chip makers site first, MSFT/Windows Update as a last resort, don't load any monitoring software from 'board maker etc.
