I have a EMachines M6805 and recently purchased a Seagate Momentus 100 GB Ultra ATA/100. I'm attempting to install it and get my laptop up and running. However, whenever I put the harddrive in it seems that the power to the laptop runs too low or something and the computer won't even boot. Whenever I remove all power and then remove the hd, the computer boots fine and begins to run. Is there something that I'm missing here, or is it just a problem with the hd? As I said, the computer works fine without the hd in it, but it seems to suck too much power or something for the laptop to work. Thanks.

Reinstall it & see if you can enter your bios-setup. There should be PC Health or Power something utility listing that you enter. It should show CPU voltage, & System voltages, which should be very close to the values show next to your actual readings. I dont think having more bytes on the platter would bog down the power supply.
