    I bought an HP laptop from Staples. I have AT&T with a 2Wire router. It connects to other systems, and I have enabled the MAC for the new HP. It will not connect. It has Vista and has me buggered.

    any suggestions save to return the @#$%^&*()!@#$%^ thing?!?!?

    :cry

    You may want to check to make sure it supports the type of encryption your wireless uses. Some wireless cards only support WEP.

    EDIT:
    Sorry didn't see it connects to other devices.

    I have no encryption, but have the MAC filtered. I will check tonight to ensure I did not copy the MAC wrong. Other devices connect to the router, this one will not. :confused

    Recheck the mac address. I am prety sure you can find it by running ipconfig /all at a command prompt.

    If that doesn't help it could be a bad network card. Are you able to connect to other wireless networks or haven't tried.

    <smacks head>

    The Ethernet and the wireless have seperate MAC. I added the wrong one to the router filter. Updated and badda boom

    It lives.

    Thank you again pclover. I would have installed Open Source, but this is the Commander-in-chief's machine.....
