Was this a completly fresh install on a formatted drive

Have you checked Task Manager for anything using large amounts of ram or CPU cycles

Any problems in your event viewer showing up, Start--Run--Type Eventvwr.msc--enter

if its a new install i would recommend booting up wxp and do a full NTFS format and reinstalling wxp all over; since your not lossing anything.

Ok well i dont think we want to go for the re-install just yet, as whose to say it wont happen again ;)

Can you give us some information on those errors listed, like event id numbers etc, also you can double click the events for extra info or follow a link to Microsoft Help and Support with possible resolutions

Are you on a network at all, because as far as i can tell MrxSmb is related to network, and with the DHCP as well could all be tied in

You didnt answer my first question was this a completly fresh instal on a formatted drive, and were you having any similar problems before

Anyway hopefully some of the other guys might catch this and have some ideas :)

ok its a fresh install on a reformated drive i used killdisk to erase everything on it and yes i used XP to also reformat it again and no i didnt have this problem before. but the reason i did this is because i started to just play around with the computer stuff and see what i could get away with tweeks and stuff in the end i just basicly killed XP since i got a new comp before i started to tweek it out i just want to see what i could do and that way i wouldnt miss up my new comp...hehe thats ok cause it was just a trial and error install... and yes im on a network ..i think it is i use a routor to connect to the net and have 2 more computers on it now that u say something about that when all 3 computers are running they can see my computer and get into it but i cant see theirs and yes all the addys are the same but the last number i used XP to set up a samall buiness or home network cause it has worked great in the past

and for the errors GLS this is a copy of what it says for XP

OK wicked looks like theres something going on there looking up your errors i came across this related to mrxsmb but needs more looking in to
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;834937
Really could do with Adrynalyne having a look hes the man as far as Windows and their respective errors

    For the other error EVENT_RPCSS_SERVER_START_TIMEOUT
theres this you can try to locate the problem
Using Regedit, navigate to the following registry value
    HKCR\Clsid\clsid value\localserver32
The clsid value is the information displayed in the message.
In the right pane, double-click Default. The Edit String dialog box is displayed. Leave this dialog box open.
Click Start, and then click My Computer.
Using the information displayed in the Value data box of the Edit String dialog box, navigate to the program.
Right-click the program name, and then click Properties.
The Properties dialog box for the program is displayed.
To determine who the vendor is for this program, refer to the Version tab.

In regards to the above article, I am not at work for the next two days...

I'm not quite awake yet. I've a friend who may be able to get it for me before Monday.

I do see that programs are hanging on loading, but I must ask, and if this has been asked just ignore me, do these problems occur in Safe Mode?

If they do not occur in Safe Mode, then its highly unlikely that the above internal hotfix is going to do much at all.

I'll look at this thread when I am more awake in a bit ;)

What does your event viewer show?

Check the application and system logs.

    Clear both, reboot.

Then try to use your apps. When they hang, etc. Go and check those logs for errors and post back.

There is a handy copy to clipboard function when you open each entry.

Then you can paste it here.

Right click My Computer, choose manage.

Event Viewer will be on the left.
