Heard a local preacher on a half-hour talk show tonight. He talked of a company that made bumper stickers. The company made blank bumper stickers.
The reasoning was 'We sell them to people who don't want to get involved!'
Thankfully there is a world of others who want to be involved.
Thanks to all of y'all for being part of a good thing. You do touch other people's lives!

Thats different, but in the UK we dont as far as I have seen do bumper stickers, the odd one I have seen thats like Baby On Board in rear window but apart from that nada.

Real question - do you folks in the USA take the bumper sticker thing serious as in its a statement of your political or other beliefs?

I would say mostly reflects the owner's true feelings. Some serious some jokingly. I see "Proud parent of an A student", but then see the sometimes "My D student whooped your A students arse". Saw an older man in a small pickup truck with stickers all over. "Viet Nam Vet". That's cool. But on his door, right below his elbow hanging over the window was one that said "Ammo is expensive. There will be no warning shots!". Probably a joke but nowadays not a cool joke! I know I thought of one, because of drivers here, in half size letters "If you can read this Get off my Back". But then people would probably get closer to read it or do it out of spite.
A more permanent way of voicing true feelings here is the 'speciality' plates available when registering a vehicle.
    Save the Dolphins
    Save the Manatees
    Space Exploration
    Adopt a Kid
    Football teams (Seminoles, Gators, 'Canes)
There's a huge selection and it cost an extra fee to get one. Money supposedly goes to a non-profit supporting the cause. And petitions are started to get a 'subject' plate started.

Maybe it's all part of us taking our freedom of expression to a extreme.

The kind of bumper stickers I see most often are favorite sports teams either college or pros and political stickers.

I have a bumper sticker that says: I am speeding because I need to poop.

Bumper stickers in Australia are usually funny although they are less popular these days.
Some I have seen and liked are

Joffa will know about the old days.....back in the 80's I had a sandman panelvan with my favourite bumper sticker:

"Dont laugh, your daughter may be inside"

In the 1980s, I had a CF Bedford van with wide wheels, body kit and a really hot 327 Chev V8 and the two stickers I had on the back were your one and also

Mine has my union local's bug and says simply, "This vehicle paid for with union wages". I'm debating adding one on the other side which also carries the bug and says, "Proud to be a union stagehand".

I don't do political stickers or anything else related to current events, since I tend to keep my cars longer than those things are on people's minds.

Honestly, I'd never put a bumper sticker on my car for the simple reason that I can't stand the look. I do however like to read other people's silly ones.

I really like the one that says "If you can read this sticker, get off my ass" I also think the zombie stick family sticker is great.

I don't look or pay attention to the serious ones.

I just couldn't put one on my bumper as it'd ruin the look of the car, OMG I'm a car snob!!!

I understand that! I did not like that the dealership put their logo on the back of mine. I removed it and the first oil change they put it back. It is only about 3 inches high and 5 inches long, just letters, but I don't want it there.:(

The same. I don't put stickers on any of my vehicles, and it aggravates me that some dealerships do.

In California you are forced to put stickers on to use the carpool lane for clean air vehicles. :(

For my current car that would be apt as its an Abarth 595 so small!

Dealerships here put logos on either the rear license plate or in a sticker in rear window, not normally on car bodywork. I agree with you I'd hate that, I dont mind advertising the dealership but in a place that's not the bodywork of the car. I wouldn't mind if they gave me a 25% discount on the car to have their logo on bodywork though?

Do the stickers need to be on car bodywork or can they be in say rear window?

Legally they have to be on the paint, but there are a lot of posts on the forums that rear and side window display does not get pulled over. We have three stickers to display; left, right and rear.
