New Laptop - Advice Needed

    Hello,

    We just got a new laptop for our son, Lenovo Ideapad. What are the best free anti-virus, malware and antispy ware programs that I can install on it? If this is better in another forum, please let me know and I will re-post.

    This belongs in software - not welcome center. I'll ask that it be moved.

    If it runs Windows: use the built-in MS Windows Defender for av.
    As far as malware detection, I like malwarebytes.

    Thank you. Do I have to do anything to set it up or does it just run automatically in the background?
    I have malwarebytes on all of my other computers based on advice from this group but that was so long ago that I didn't know if anything better had come along.

    What operating system are you running. if Windows 10 I would use the built in windows defender and download Malwarebytes free as a backup
