    hello mgs,
just found your site and need some help. i just bought a used laptop with no operating system, installed a copied disk of win xp. works great, however, it did come with a non standard dvd/cd burner in the laptop. it works for software and reads cds for installing software but will not recognize dvds. any help would be appreciated. its a dell latitude c600 win xp. i tried the windows media player and it did not find anything in the drive when i had a dvd in it. it was not a dvdr but one from blocbuster. thanks for any help in advance.

You need the codecs like Intervideo, or another DVD player in order to get WMP to read DVD movies.
