    Hi

I got a new Laptop yesterday it's a Hi-Grade laptop with windows 7 installed on it. It was supplied from a company called Microlink (supplies equipment for disabled students). Anyway i got this laptop and they set it all up seemed to be working fine at the beginning but later on in the day i decide i would set my account up and transfer my files from my old laptop to my new one. However when i started using the new laptop i could see something was wrong with it. Despite it being a brand new computer some application on the computer don't work, ever time i open them they cause the computer to freeze (nothing on the computer will work, completely locks down you have to turn it off). It happens when i try to use MSN, certain games and magnification programms and even when i go restart my computer after an update i press restart and then it just freezes. The only applications that really work are the internet and microsoft programms such as word etc... but thats it. Even the littlest thing will make it freeze. It's also running at half of the speed that it actually can (not sure why) it's ment to be a high speed computer, but it's not being quick at all - quite the opposite infact! I don't understand why it's doing this, it's a brand new laptop it can't have registery problems all ready! i've got full secturity and my laptop is all up to date well only got it yesterday. Is it just simply that the computer is faulty and i need to take it back and get a new one?? or maybe resorting it back to factory settings would work i'm not sure?? I'm really not a computer wizzz
I really need this laptop to work without freezing any suggestions on why this is happening and how to fix it would be most appreciated ASAP!
    Thanks so much
    kirsty

It may well be that some of the older files you transfered may have been corrupt, what you need to try first of all, is a system restore, back to before you installed the files, i ain't got 7 so i'm only assuming it's the same as every computer,

Open the Start Menu, by clicking the start button ( bottom left of your screen ) Click on All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore, click enter, UAC will then prompt you to carry on, click yes, then you will be shown a list of dates to where you want to restore to, select a date before the files where transfered !

Then after doing this i suggest you scan your computer with your AV, then try transferring your files again, but before you open any of them, scan the files aswell !

    Good Luck, Rusty ! ;)
