    two considerations. Spec and warranty.

Warranty is even more important on a laptop as its harder to solve hardware problems yourself. (imposible for most) so see whats best, 3 years on site is about the best you will get inclusive, pay for extended if you can.

Would definitely go for a Sony or a Toshiba, that's why I voted other. However, I'm starting to like the Dell range that they offer so would consider all 3. Sony may be very expensive, but their performance is great and have a long life. Toshiba are a lot cheaper but can take more "ware and tear" and I find them to be more durable.

I'd have to say alienware for pure performance but some of those bad boys weigh close to 13 pounds,so you wouldn't want to carry it to work.

I would consider the Toshiba or maybe the Sony. I have read and heard the repair rates are lower, plus they have always been good quality products for me.

I have had 2 Dells in 5 yrs first one was an Inspiron 8100 and the new one Inspiron 9100. The 8100 was used for work and home use 12 hrs a day for 2 years. Still going strong for my neice at college. The 9100 is a desk top heavy weight they should have put wheels on and a handle on it!! It is on almost 24/7 wireless die New Years eve. Dellcalled me New Years day to tell me they shipped the replacement card and it would be at my office the next day!!

    Yes I would buy a 3rd Dell

Depends on what you're doing with it.
If you're not going to push it hard, don't care too much about performance, then...
IMHO, the look & feel of an IBM ThinkPad can't be beat. I just love their keyboards, their cases, nothing but class.

    But, that's just me.

What I plan on doing with this laptop will depend on a few things...I may bring it to work to do some network stuff....I may use it just to be on the web or I may use it to just play games it all depends on the day for me...
