Just made a new install of puppy - tahrpup - and along with it came a new browser for me. Pale moon. The old puppy I have used SeaMonkey. PM does look a lot fresher. But since I'm on a wireless that charges for everything I can see that I'll do away with the default home page. I normally use internet shortcuts to go to places. I can also see that I need a few add-ons such as adblock or plus or what's available. I'm looking for some recommendations from users of this browser. This is currently 24.7.1(x86).

    Not showing you away...
Here's a great forum for everything Pale Moon related. Have a look at the sub-forums for add-ons and extensions.

Palemoon is my browser on my Windows computers.
I have uBlock Origin installed, instead of AdBlockPlus. I replaced ABP probably 6 months ago.
    I also have noscript running.

The other addons I have might not interest you: better privacy, cookie culler, YouTube downloader, nosquint (good for people with "senior eyes"), webmail adblocker (good for a few email websites so I don't get ads in the right column - it extends my reading pane), Yahoo Mail Hide Ad panel.

Thanks plodr. You given me a few good ones to look for. I remember ABP had some controversy so uBlock will probably be on my list. And probably a YouTube thing cuz I have to get my videos. Maybe even the no squint since there are plenty older eyes around here.

The eyes in your avatar don't look old at all. They look WOOZY.

Make sure it is uBlock Origin and not uBlock. The original developer of uBlock had a falling out with someone and started another addon, hence the uBlock origin!!!
I read up before I decided what to replace ABP with.

Another Pale Moon user here on W7x64.

uBlock Origin can be setup to use multiple 3rd party filters (ad/malware blocklists mostly), these can be found and selected via the about:addons uBlock details page > Show Dashboard > 3rd Party filters. I currently use the following:
      • My filters‎ : 33 used out of 36
      • uBlock filters‎ : 85 used out of 86
      • uBlock filters – Badware risks‎ (github.com): 4 used out of 4
      • uBlock filters – Privacy‎ : 13 used out of 14
      • uBlock filters – Unbreak‎ : 72 used out of 72
Check the filter page occasionally for updates, some are updated very frequently, important if you need to block dodgy sites, etc.

But, I also use (via HostsMan) a big hosts file for system-wide blocking, you might want to use some of these with
    uBlock₀ as well:

I use Download Flash And Video for the rare times I want to download from YouTube, it's updated reasonably frequently.

You might also want to use Pale Moon Commander to reduce the need to visit about:config for some browser/network/security tweaks, it also has a Reset feature, which might be useful at some point.

Good words of advice from all. Thanks. As I look more maybe even switch to PM on Windows. The Linux is a good escape every now and then from V 7 and 8. And who knows maybe later on more permanent. I also know from past that some add-ons may not work with earlier versions of a distro so updates are probably in order. Always another thing to do.
