I got a notice from MGs that we all have to change our password and user.
Is this true?
Also, would it be wise to buy my own modem and turn the gateway into Comcast?
I currently have their gateway but use only the modem part as I bridged it and use my router.
It is $10. a month and I can get a modem for $100.

 

Yes, it's true. It's all explained in the email. You only have to change your password, though, not your user name.

As for the other...depends. Obviously it would be cheaper to buy your own than to keep renting from Comcast, but then if anything goes wrong with your service they won't come fix it because it's not their equipment. Or if they do come, they'll charge you through the nose for the service call.
