New Mobo Doesn't See PCI IDE Card

:wave Well sir I'm working on this new build with this mobo. I have old IDE disk drives. I have a PCI card with the IDE adapter, but the drive isn't listed when I go into the BIOS.:cry As a temporary solution I pulled a sata drive from my main computer so I can at least install the OS. But I have to get the IDE card to work ... will installing windows help? What can I do to correct this situation.:confused

 

What OS are you using? Were there any driver disks for the card you put in?

 

:wave Well sir ... if it wasn't for the sata disk drive I had I'd probably still be stuck. Once I got the OS XP Pro installed ... I installed the drivers for the motherboard and that was all that was needed. I don't think the BIOS see the drive so there may be a problem if I can't get into windows.

 

Bios won't see the drive, but during post a display should show the card you have installed and any drives attached to that drive. At least in the server world with LSI raid cards it is like this. I'd either install the drivers for the PCI card, or make sure during post when the PCI card initializes it can see the drive. What PCI card model did you buy?

 

:wave Yep ... without a sata drive I can't do a fresh install. I got this card from ebay.
