    Hey guys,

Couldn't find anything with search, so I figured I'd throw this out here.

I just bought a brand new monitor (Acer H233H) to use in a dual-monitor setup with my old Samsung one (SyncMaster 932GW).

I've been using the samsung for a year or so and running at 1400x900 resolution. That's the max resolution of the Samsung. I've never had any bluescreen of death problems, and all was happy.

With the new monitor, I have been using it for a few days at 1920x1080 and I LOVE it. :) The problem is that I am getting random blue screen of deaths that I never had before, mostly when I am playing games.

I am suspecting it has something to do with extra strain on my video card, as everything is being run at 1920x1080 as opposed to 1400x900. I am using an Nvidia 8800GT (With the new drivers from April 2nd).

Sometimes, when it restarts from the BSOD, the computer takes a long time to get through post; is this a sign of overheating?

Thanks for any help that can be provided... I'm not sure what to do. I want to find a way to keep things stable and use the new monitor without worrying about crashing out.

When you get back from a hard boot, you could probably inspect the crash dumps to see what's causing the BSOD. If you don't know where the crash dumps are kept (I still haven't found mine), try WhoCrashed, it'll find them for you. (It needs MS Debugging Package, if you don't have it it'll download and install it for you.)

Oh, and the home edition is free! ;)

Remove the Acer and see if the BSODs return.

No. It is usually a sign a driver is giving problems loading up. Random BSODs could be a sign of heat, however - too bad you did not put the error code and message from the BSOD - they are there for a reason - to help troubleshoot.

You need to check your temps and make sure the interior is clean of dust and dirt, and all fans are spinning. I would swap in a known good power supply too. If still doing it, you might blast a desk fan into the open side.
