New Motherboard needed

Hey my motherboard has been giving me problems lately and I've decided it's time to replace it. Unfortunately it's an old style. I have a socket 478 p4 CPU, and DDR 333 ram, an AGP graphics card. All those aren’t too difficult to find mobo's for but the problem is my case. It has 7 expansion slots in the rear, 6 for pci and 1 for agp. I don’t think most boards would fit in my case. I’d like to avoid getting a new case, so I figure the options are to find a motherboard to fit or maybe do some surgery on my case...witch I think I am capable of if I had to. I am asking that if there is a possible motherboard that would fit, and still is available then to list the way I can purchase. Or if modifying is possible what kind of things I need to watch out for...such as maybe the distance between pci slots differ between motherboards. Oh and my power supply is 250W max.

 

i just replaced my 478 mobo with an ASUS p4p800-e deluxe and its awesome. kinda expensive for an older mobo (a little over $100) but the performance is great and it has tons of features. overclocking with it is VERY simple also but is great for beginners or the more advanced. there are cheaper versions with less features and unless u need the stuff these expensive ones have then go for the cheaper ones. Id just reccomend an ASUS board.

 

Depends on what you really want Gator, the case is the cheapest componet of many upgrades. I have seen the mother of all mobo recently and it will give a P4 478 pin a PCIe socket and allow you to milk that CPU a little bit longer:

I was a sparrows fart away from buying it myself but just got my tax return Now I'm looking at Pentium 805D, DDR2 etc etc etc, on a Conroe ready board, 2 weeks to go (prices plummeting), but above is good step.
