New motherboard - No boot

Ok, so... I just had to replace my motherboard.

I put in the exact same motherboard I had before, and everything is connected properly.

    Here's the problem:

When I turn the computer on, my video display will not come up. I have the monitor powered on and its displaying an orange light (which on my monitor means its "asleep"). Normally when I boot up a computer to this monitor, the light goes green and I get a display.

With this new motherboard, there's no signal being sent to the monitor at all so there's no display coming up.

I tried power cycling the monitor -- no go.
I reseated the video card -- no go.

I can't connect my video directly to my motherboard as there is no video connection on my motherboard.

I don't hear any beeps or anything to signify I might have some other problem going on.

I removed my ram to see what would happen, and it had no effect.

Any ideas on what this could be?

1st make sure you used enough thermal paste - Trust me I have seen many people forget this part
2nd get a new mobo - I recently went through this issue with three motherboards in a row! I think the mass production of our parts is creating cheaper and cheaper quality boards unfortunately.

I made sure i had enough thermal paste, no problem there...

As for getting a new motherboard, I had a feeling that it might just be a case of a "bad board" but since I had to order it from online (its an older board) I didn't want to have to ship it back for a new one unless there was no other choice.

If anyone else has any ideas I would greatly appreciate them as well.

No beeps usually means bad board.

I would unplug all cables and re plug them all back in.

if that doesn't work then it's likely a bad motherboard. I've had the exact same issue in the past and it was due to a bad mobo.

Do your fans spin when you power on?

All fans do power on, (lights and all, tee hee).

I'm thinking its most likely bad board as well, which makes me a VERY sad panda :(

I've tried re-connecting almost all my connections... But I'll give that a shot again anyways just for the hell of it.

Is there any chance it could be the processor? I just want to rule EVERYTHING else out before I send the board back.

So the board is producing precisely 0 beeps, correct?

    Yep, no beeps.

It sounds just like it used to when it started up before I had to replace the mobo. Although, I don't have any speakers to hook up to it to see if I can hear windows starting up.

If windows was booting it would make one short beep.

So do you have a motherboard speaker (beeper) hooked up?

It may be built in and would look like this, whether or not it is built onto the motherboard:

Yes I have a mobo speaker.

And my computer (before it broke) never beeped on windows start up... dunno why it didn't, but it never did.

Leaning towards it being a bad board, I disconnected and reconnected everything today and still the same results.

I did notice a slightly bent processor pin when I did this, which i carefully bent back into place... possible that the bent pin is causing the problem?

    Oh s****

If it's bent back into place and makes contact I think it's ok

Could you post a picture of the CPU bottom up close?

I'll see if I can get a picture when I get home from work, could that theorhetically be causing the problem?

    I solved the issue...

When I took it apart to get the picture of the CPU for you guys, I noticed that the CPU was loose... Turns out, I never fully locked it into place -_-

I think I was just so frustrated trying to figure out what was wrong that I overlooked the obvious.

Lol... I feel like such a moron.

    Thanks for all the help!

    I've done that before!

    Your not the only one.

still not as bad as my biggest screw up recently, working on my moms computer i had to remove the cpu and when i lifted the locking bar up expecting it to stay in the socket like most cpus do, it fell out and bent like 10 pins. (other hand was holding wires back) I uttered words I'm not aloud to say here.... after 45 min i managed to get them straight and fitting in the socket again though :D
